Professor Spiros Simitis (1934-2023) played a decisive role in the construction of the world’s data protection law. His influence is felt throughout the entire globe, and, most of all, in Europe. With the fifth anniversary of the General Data Protection Regulation behind us, with the recent enactment of the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Act, and with all the other digital regulations of the EU, his influence and legacy have never been greater.
