About GW JOLT
The George Washington Journal of Law & Technology is an independent, online-only journal of legal scholarship and the flagship student-run technology law review at The George Washington University Law School. GW JOLT publishes rigorous scholarship from leading scholars, practitioners, and policymakers on topics at the nexus of law and technology.
The editorial board carefully reviews submitted articles and prepares them for publication. Each selected article undergoes a rigorous multi-level review before final author review and publication. GW JOLT aims to become a leading forum near our nation’s capital for academic debate, policy discussion, and cross-disciplinary legal discourse on emerging issues at the technology frontier.

Submission Requirements
Length
- Articles should be between 15,000 and 30,000 words, including footnotes. In limited cases, exceptions may be made.
Format
- Articles may be submitted as Word (.docx) or PDF files. Word format is preferred.
- Citations should follow The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation.
- Please include a title page with author name(s), institutional affiliation(s), and contact information.
Use of AI
- Authors must disclose any use of generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) in the writing process in a title page footnote.
Simultaneous Submissions
- We accept simultaneous submissions. If your article receives an offer from another journal, please notify us immediately.
- We will conduct expedited reviews for articles with publication offers from other journals. Please include “EXPEDITE” in your submission or email subject line and specify the offer deadline.
Review Process
- Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis by our editorial board.
- Each selected article undergoes a rigorous multi-level editing process before final author review and publication.
- GW JOLT reserves the right to decline any submission for any reason, including a finding of plagiarism at any stage of the process.
